Lemp Neighborhood Association

Lemp Neighborhood Association

Established in 1991, the Lemp Neighborhood Association is a grassroots organization consisting of concern citizens.  They have a broad profile including many working class as well as college professors, urban planners, professionals and habitually poor.  They have a shared passion for the primary working class nature of our neighborhood and seek a means to establish control over our collective fate in order to preserve what we like and change those things which need changing.

They seek to provide a venue by which the resident of the target area are provided the opportunity to interact effectively with the sources of power, both governmental and financial, to achieve the expressed goals of the citizens.  These goals include the right to live in our neighborhood free of the harassment and danger of crime.  The maintenance of the community as a desirable place where the current demographic may flourish.  Preservation of (and where possible a return to original usage and appearance of) the historic building stock within the target area. The upgrading of the infrastructure to establish a sustainable design sensitive to the impact on the residents and the environment.
